Built in 1938 and occupied by international retailer Penney’s, the building oozes heritage character, feel and history. Located in the centre of the vibrant inner-city lifestyle node of Stones Corner Villages, the approximately 2,000m² building has undergone a complete refurbishment. The design allows for seamless integration of multiple retail or office occupancies, a modern and sophisticated blueprint with a nod to it’s striking Art Deco past.
Rapid LED partnered with Brisbane-based Electrical Contractor, Green Switch Electrical to complete a custom lighting solution that would tie in with the refurbishment design brief. Featuring a suite of both recessed and surface mount Downlights, Wall Lights and Emergency fittings throughout provided ambient lighting and safety compliance in the work spaces however it is the 100+ metres of COB LED Strip Light and Rapid NeoFlex that highlight the stylish curves on the building’s exterior as well as the seamlessly recess mount positioning in niche areas of the interior.
The most outstanding component of the design and install is the precision in which the Electrical Contracting team were able to integrate the custom-made Rapid LED Linear fittings from recessed to surface mounted with no visible joins – a feat which has been achievable though both expert lighting design and installation.
Penney’s Stones Corner has been nominated for an excellence in design award in 2023 to honour the intricate lighting details of this open plan space.
