Construction of the $30m Ballymore Stadium National Training Centre began in March 2022 and was completed and officially opened in June 2023. The project, jointly funded by the Commonwealth and QLD Governments along with QLD Rugby Union will be the new national headquarters of both QLD and National mens and womens rugby squads. This redevelopment includes the construction of the National Rugby Training Centre (NRTC) and the new 3000 seat McLean Stand, which features state-of-the-art lighting solutions to support various sporting activities.
Rapid LED proudly partnered with QLD based CU2 Electrical on this project where a wealth of our products have been integrated into the Ballymore Stadium redevelopment to enhance both the functionality and aesthetic appeal of the venue. Designed by leading architect, Michael Raynor and constructed by BuildCorp, the LED lighting systems not only provide superior illumination for training and events but also contribute to energy efficiency and sustainability goals of the project.
Rapid LED ‘HERO’ 1200w DALI controlled LED Floodlights were used to light field 3 to the professional illuminance standard required. ‘RAPTOR’ LED Street Lights with matching black powder coated poles ensure a heightened illumination throughout the interior roadways and public area spaces.
SAHARA 250mm Ø Surface Mount LED Downlights were uniquely mounted into a frame which was recessed into the ceiling of the grandstand, providing an architecturally inspired lighting feature.
RapidLine Linear Lighting, Downlights, LED Strip Lighting and much more were utilised across the change rooms, bathrooms, boardroom and office spaces, physio centre, kitchen and dining rooms. The new lighting setup is part of a broader effort to transform Ballymore into a high-performance sports hub, preparing it for future events, including its role as a venue for the 2032 Brisbane Olympics.
